PLANISPHERES was established by Malcolm Moore in 2003 after he completed a Post Graduate Diploma in international copyright law at Kings College London, one of the top 10 universities in the world. Initially set up as a consultancy to provide backup and support to independent filmmakers, Malcolm's specialist skills in developing professional relationships and creative rights exploitation, led to Planispheres becoming an independent production company and an established training provider.

Based in London one of the world's global production hubs, Planispheres co-produces, and executive produces award-winning productions with emerging and established filmmakers. Prior to Planispheres, Malcolm was CEO of the Directors Guild of Great Britain from 1996-2002. In 2000 the DGGB’s successful joint campaign for TV directors, won economic recognition of their creative rights, by winning the ability for directors to keep their rights and retain secondary use payments to the shows they make.

Awarded an EU scholarship in 2014 to attend Germany’s prestigious Erich Pommer Institute's 'Essential Legal Framework" on the latest international best practices and strategies for clearing copyright, personality rights, and music rights with senior executives from NBC Universal, Sony, HBO, Red Bull, Zentropa and broadcasters across Europe.

Awarded a Creative Skillset "Management and Leadership" bursary to attend the Equity investment programme: ‘Closing the Gap” at the Investitonsbank in Berlin 2014. After being selected from over 50 European producers to meet international equity investors.

Invited to attend the Berlin Co-production Market, for the first time after being selected for the inaugural UK leading skills development programme for European Co-productions: the UK Producer’s Lab participating in Berlin. Malcolm has been invited back to attend many times since then as an experienced international producer. The invitation-only 5 day industry event is part of the Berlin Film Festival's European Film Market.

Currently, a ScreenSkills evaluator to assess and accredit training courses for the screen industries in 2020-2024. In 2023 Malcolm gained a Screenskills Level 3 Award in Education + Training, the Nationally recognised Train the Trainer and Teaching qualification is a new award, designed for the UK screen industries. Malcolm was first approved as an industry professional to prepare and run training courses for the Creative Skillset’s Screen Academies, after being invited to attend the National Film and Television School's (NFTS) Training for Trainers programme.

Malcolm is also a Mentor for students and alumni at King’s College London, University of London 2018-2024.

Commissioned to write for the British Universities Film & Video Council Handbook - 'Moving Image and Sound, Knowledge and Access', Malcolm’s first chapter is a user guide to making use of copyright content in higher education and research and creating Virtual Learning Environments. The 2nd chapter covers the tenth anniversary of digital piracy from the Napster case to the Pirate Bay convictions. Aimed at information specialists, academic service providers, students and teachers, circulated to over 200 universities nationally in the UK and around the world.

BEFORE PLANISPHERES Former Chief Executive of The Directors Guild of Great Britain 1996 – 2002. Representing directors in film, television, radio, theatre, opera and multimedia. In 2000 the DGGB’s successful joint campaign for TV directors won economic recognition of their creative rights and secondary use payments.

Media production experience includes making film and video projects from an early age; five years as an audiovisual technician at Canterbury University and broadcasting (volunteer announcer, news-reader, and DJ) with the public service broadcaster Radio New Zealand.

In 1991 returned to the UK to pursue a career in the arts and media: Creative video at the Central Saint Martins School of Art. Studio production and documentary-making at Birkbeck College. Radio production at Interchange Studios.

Before joining Planispheres he studied video/radio interviewing at Westminster University, attended an intensive Final Cut Pro editing course, and an Arista Development Workshop at RADA.

Admitted as a Solicitor in England and Wales, he remains on the current Law Society Roll and holds a current practising certificate for 2023.
